On Thursday, October 30, 2025, at approximately 6:00 a.m., the Newton County Sheriff’s Office, along with the United States Marshals Service and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, conducted a joint fugitive operation in Deweyville.
While conducting the operation, deputies observed a red GMC pickup traveling down State Highway 12. Deputies received information that the pickup was being driven by Steven Claude Gribble Jr., who was wanted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Orange County Sheriff’s Office for the offenses of Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Correctional Facility and Fleeing or Eluding a Police Officer.
Gribble was taken into custody at the intersection of State Highway 12 and State Highway 87. He was subsequently transported to the LaSalle Correctional Facility in Beaumont.
