Most of our area baseball/softball teams continued play in tournaments on Friday.
SOFTBALL
Anahuac Tournament-
The Lady Mustangs went 1-0 on their second day in Anahuac. Defeating Onalaska 9-6. Nataleigh Sims went 3-3 with her 1st career home run (inside the park) 2 RBI 2 runs scored and a stolen base. Erika Jordan went 2-2; T’Era Garrett went 2-3 with a run scored and a stolen base; Tessa Turner went 1-3 with an RBI and a run scored; Peyton Zimmerman went 2-3 with a double 2 RBI and a run scored; D’Ayrrah Womack went 2-3 with an RBI and a run scored; Edid Balderas went 1-2 with an RBI; Soleil Smith went 0-0 but drew 2 walks and scored 2 runs; Kensley Waller went 1-2 with an RBI. Every Lady Mustangs player got on base. The Lady Mustangs start district play on Tuesday as they travel to Vidor.

Jasper Tournament
LCM beat Kirbyville 15-0 in 3 innings. Tessa Erickson winning pitcher. Gave up 2 hits 0 walks 7 strike outs Tessa Erickson was 2 for 2 with a double and 2 RBI’s Ava Wright was 3 for 3 with 1 RBI Eden Frenzel was 2 for 2 with one double Ansley Moore was 2 for 2 with one RBI Rhylan Wilson was 1 for 2 with 2 RBI’s and a double Jacelynn Cook, Lexis Moss both had singles with RBI’s.

Huff/Lib Tournament-
Bridge City lost to 6A Grand Oaks 10-3. GO had six runs on six hits against Carson Fall, two earned. Fall showed her offense with a HR in the game.
BC beat Huffman 7-2. Fall struck out 16 in five innings allowing just one hit and she also hit two bombs. Saturday BC (12-9) plays Dayton and Magnolia West.

BASEBALL
Certa-Bearden Tournament –
OHS vs Liberty-Orangefield defeated Liberty 4-0 on Friday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Brycen Tait Tait led things off on the hill for the Bobcats. The hurler allowed seven hits and zero runs over five and a third innings, striking out one and walking zero. OF notched three runs in the fifth inning. The offensive output came from a walk by Rusten Traxler, a single by Matthew Johnson, and a fielder’s choice by Caleb Fregia.
Butler led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Liberty. He surrendered one run on three hits over four innings, striking out five. Mullinex threw two innings out of the bullpen.
The Bobcats totaled seven hits. Kyle Michael and Johnson all managed multiple hits with Michael went 3-for-3 at the plate.
OHS vs Beaumont United-Caleb Fregia came to ballpark and meant business on Friday, tallying four hits and leading Orangefield to a 12-3 win. Fregia singled in the first, singled in the third, singled in the fourth, and singled in the sixth.
Orangefield got on the board in the first inning, scoring one run when Cameron Dearing singled. The Bobcats tallied three runs in the sixth inning. Fregia, Lane Gipson, and Gavin Pollock all drove in runs in the frame.
Garrett Rawls earned the victory on the mound. The righty went three and two-thirds innings, allowing three runs on three hits, striking out six and walking zero. Colton Myers and Camden Fountain entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
OF racked up 13 hits on the day. Fregia, Kane Smith, Dearing, and Kyle Michael all managed multiple hits and stole 10 bases during the game as four players stole more than one. Dearing led the way with 3. The Bobcats improve to 4-3 and will play WOS Saturday at 7:00
