Silsbee took the early Friday night and never trailed. The Silsbee Tigers defeated the Little Cypress-Mauriceville Bears 75-56 at The Grove on the LC-M High School campus.
The victory keeps the Tigers undefeated 3-0 in District 22-4A. The Bears suffered their first loss in district dropping to 2-1.
Devon McCain got the Tigers rolling with eight points in the first quarter. Silsbee got three-point baskets from Braelon Bush and Tre Lowe in the opening period to take a 19-13 advantage.
The second period belonged to Silsbee’s Jordyn Adams who scored 17 points to finish the half with 19 tallies. LC-M stayed within shouting range at 40-27 by half time as both Katon Brown and Braden Bridges tossed in six points for the second quarter.
The pressure defense by Silsbee caused several turnovers in the third quarter that resulted in fast break baskets by the Tigers. The lead got as large as 20 before the Bears cut it back to 18 with one quarter to play. The fourth quarter was pretty even with Tigers only outscoring the Bears by one.
Adams was the high scorer in the game with 24 points and was one of three Tigers in double figures. McCain had 14 and Bush finished with 12 points. The Bears’ Katon Brown had 16 points on the night, and Braden Bridges scored 12. Both Christian Weatherly and Cole Frost tallied 9 apiece for LC-M.
District 22-4A action resumes Tuesday night. Little Cypress-Mauriceville plays the last place Hamshire-Fannett Longhorns at The Grove. Silsbee plays West Orange-Stark at the Mustangs’ gym.
