Area teams were back on the court Friday to face district opponents. And there were several big matchups.
Vidor beat LCM 84-31 as everyone on the roster, including Lazaro Lugo (above) scored for the Pirates.
Orangefield lost at home to East Chambers 70-59. Top scorers for OF were Jaden Scales and Carson Willis with 17. Owen Sims led the charge on the glass with 10 Rebounds, followed by Willis with 7. The Bobcats fall to 16-6 on the season and 2-1 in district play. They will be back in action on Tuesday against Buna.
BC beat Lumberton 33-30. Aaden Bush led with 17 points and Abraham Munguia chipping in with 8 points and the game winning steal. Cards move to 16-8 on the season and 1-2 in district play. It was a program sweep for BC as they prepare for Silsbee at home Tuesday.
GIRLS
The Lady Bears took down Vidor 50-27. In the win Keylie Washburn had 21 points. Eden Frenzel had 9, and Emily Smith and Maya Meadows each had 6. This moves them to 2-1 in district play. The Lady Bears will travel to Lumberton Tuesday in a big match up against the Lady Raiders. JV will play at 5:00 and Varsity to follow.
West Orange Stark defeated Starks in non-district play 48-27. Angel Cooper lead the Lady Mustangs with 19 pts., Carlysia Simien 16pts and Kyla Blagburn 5pts. For Starks, M.Nolen scored 18pts.
The BC Lady Cards whipped Lumberton 63-43. BC is now 4-0 in district and 24-2 on the season.
Orangefield beat the East Chambers Lady Buccaneers 58-45. Olivia Smith led the pack with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Mikayla Locke had 14 points for the day, 3 assists, and 3 rebounds. Finally, Brooklyn Wagoner had 10 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists, and 1 block. This puts the Lady Bobcats record 4-1 in district. The JV Lady Bobcats unfortunately lost with the final 11-51. Ava Josephson had 5 points and 1 rebound. Paxton Oldham had 4 points and 2 rebounds. Finally, Aspyn Gay had 2 points. The Lady Bobcats travel next Tuesday (January 7) to take on the Lady Buna Cougars. JV will play at 4:30 at Buna JH and Varsity at 6 at the High School gym.
West Hardin defeated Deweyville 48-45.
