
After a week of make-ups and postponements, all teams scheduled to play Friday were able to get their games in.
SOFTBALL
Deweyville took two big district games from Big Sandy 7-6, 4-2.  In game one, Baylee Smith (above) would strike out 15, giving up just one earned run on two hits.  She was also 2-2 with 2 RBI’s and catcher Emily Meyers was 2-2 with an RBI and a run scored.
In game two the Lady Pirates scored two in the seventh for the win. Baylee Smith struck out 13 while also collecting two hits and an RBI. Adisyn Thompson tripled home Braley Revere for the winning run.

LCM 11 Jasper 4 – Keylie Washburn was in the zone going 4-4 with a HR, double, and 5RBI’s. Tessa Erickson also homered and struck out 7 in four innings for the win. Ava White also had a monster game going 4-4 with 2RBI’s and four runs scored.

The Orangefield Lady Bobcats celebrated their 2024 seniors in a big way with a 14-4 five inning run rule over the Buna Lady Cougars. Abigail Curphey got the complete game win going 5 innings and giving up 2 earned runs on 5 hits with 5 strikeouts and no walks.
Abby Broussard and Hallee Becker both had 3 hits on the night. Becker added an RBI and 2 runs scored, while Broussard added 2 RBIs and a run scored. Charlee Sanches had 2 hits, including a double with 3 RBIs and 3 runs scored. Aubree Beck had 2 hits, including a double, an RBI, and 2 runs scored. Abigail Curphey had 2 hits with 2 RBIs. Paris Becker had a 2 RBI single and scored a run.
With tonight’s win, the Lady Bobcats solidified 2nd place in 22-3A with two games left to play. They will take on Warren in a make-up game this Monday at 5:30 and celebrate Faculty and Staff night. 

Congratulations to Abigail Curphey, Greenlea Oldham, Paris Becker and Abby Broussard on a fantastic four year softball career. The Lady Bobcat 2024 senior class has been a part of two district championships, one in 2021 and 2023, the winningest season in program history in 2023 with 27 wins, and made the first trip in school history to the regional semi-finals last season. These seniors have contributed to 86 program wins over the past 4 years.

WOS lost to Silsbee 17-2. The Mustangs had three hits, one each from C. Simien, L. Turner, and E. Warren.

BC shutout Lumberton 6-0. Carson Fall throws another no hitter with 17 K’s. Anna Autrey had 3RBI’s and Haley Munoz and Nicole Sasser added doubles. With the win the Lady Cards win their 19th district title.

BASEBALL
The Bridge City Cardinals scored four runs in the 7th to beat Lumberton 7-3.  Landon Reeves with the complete game win, striking out 8 and giving up just one earned run.  Eight hits for the redbirds including two each from Connor Riojas, Hutch Bearden, and Gavin Bodin. Slade Landry had the big hit in the seventh with a two run double.

The Orangefield Bobcats defeated the Buna Cougars 5-0 on Friday night. Carson Worthy and Kane Smith led the offense, picking up 3 hits a piece. Worthy also had 2 doubles in the game. Logan Cheek, Matthew Johnson, and Caleb Fregia had great games defensively for the Bobcats.
Brycen Tait earned the win on the mound, throwing a complete game shutout, allowing 3 hits with 3 strikeouts. The Bobcats will have a full week of games coming up, hosting Warren on Monday, and traveling to Hardin and Kountze on Tuesday and Friday.

LCM completed the district sweep of Jasper, winning 11-0 in five innings. Jakob Scheiderer pitched a one hitter with 5K’s for four innings and Brice Frenzel pitched a scoreless fifth, striking out the side. Marco Bandiero was 2-3 with a double, 2RBI’s and 2 runs scored. Landon Richards followed his Thursday no-hitter going 2-3 with 2RBI’s.

WOS lost to Silsbee 11-2. Grayson Gregory brought in two on a hit and the other two hits came from Blade Williams and Ja’Veon Rubin.
