Three different fraud cases were reported to Orange police on Wednesday and in an unrelated incident, a local woman was arrested after a traffic stop for an arrest warrant from Los Angeles for fraud.
The cases reported included a man who had a call from his credit union informing him of suspicious charges on his account in the Baytown area. He did not make the charges.
Also, an identification theft was reported by a man who was checking his credit score report and discovered someone had used his information to open a fraudulent account sometime in 2018 or 2019.
In the other case, a woman noticed discrepancies in her bank account on Monday. She went to the bank Tuesday and worked with an employee to find several illicit transactions.
The arrest was made about 8 a.m. in the 3600 block of MacArthur Drive. A patrol officer reported that he saw a car traveling with a defective brake light. After stopping the car, and running a check on the driver, he discovered she had an arrest warrant for fraud through the Los Angeles, California, Sheriff’s Office.
24-year-old Eleecia DaJanay Degay of Orange was arrested on the warrant and taken to the Orange County Jail.
