A military graveside rites for Frank Ledford, 82, of Lake Jackson, TX, will be held 2:00 P.M.-Sunday-September 13, 2015 at the Brookeland Cemetery in Brookeland, Tx. Visitation will be 5:00 -8:00 P.M.-Saturday-September 12, 2015 at Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home in Jasper.
Frank was born February 12, 1933, in Oklahoma and died September 10, 2015, in Lake Jackson, Tx.
Born in Oklahoma and a native of Pampa, Tx., Frank was a former longtime Orange and Lake Sam Rayburn area resident living the past nine years in Lake Jackson. Frank retired from the US Army as a First Sgt. serving in Korea and Vietnam. After his military retirement, he was an entrepreneur being involved for many years in the food service industry with Weinerschnitzel, Bonanza Restaurants and Sarge’s Place, all in Orange, Tx. He then retired to the Lake Sam Rayburn area where he served the community through Meals On Wheels. When he moved to the Lake Jackson area he continued to serve his community through the American Legion Post 306.
Frank is survived by his wife Jean Ledford of Lake Jackson, Tx.; daughters Lela J. Johnson and husband Robert of Brookeland, Linda R. Mitchell of The Woodlands, Lois Ledford of Beaumont, and Katrina R. Jones and husband Blak of Brookeland; brother Wayne Ledford and wife Betty of Pampa, Tx. He is also survived by a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other family and friends.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Mary Ruth Ledford, brothers Bud, Olanda, and Arby. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P. O. Box 758517, Topeka, Kansas 66675. Services are under the direction of Stringer & Griffin Funeral Home of Jasper.
