Four men were arrested Tuesday night near Sunset Park for drugs and possession of a gun after people reported gunshots fired between two cars. All four were in the same gold Buick in which Orange police found a pistol with magazine, marijuana and ecstasy.
Officer D.A. Dorman reported the shots were fired about 8 p.m. at 10th Street and Cordrey Avenue between a gold Buick and a blue Buick. Dispatch then sent word the shots were coming from the gold one.
Orange police stopped the blue Buick at Cordrey and 16th Street and found the gold Buick a couple of blocks away on West Lutcher Drive across from Sunset Park.
Officers got four men out of the car. Dorman said a black handgun and a large ammunition magazine were visible on the back seat floorboard. He also saw some marijuana near the front cigarette lighter.
During the search of the car, police found a green Crown Royal bag with a baggie of marijuana and a digital scale in the back seat. They also found an orange Crown Royal bag with a baggie of ecstasy pills in the front seat.
Dorman reported a man sitting in the back seat had a baggie of marijuana in his underwear that was found during a strip search at the Orange County Jail.
The total weight of the marijuana was a little more than a half ounce, a misdemeanor amount. They are also each facing a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm and a felony charge of possession of a controlled substance.
The men are 26-year-old Christopher Lawrence, 25-year-old Micah Renee Charlot, 26-year-old Donta Marouis Lucas, and 25-year-old Kaylan Newton.
