A former Orange police officer will be spending time behind bars because of a variety of probation violations. 128th State District Judge Courtney Arkeen Friday gave a punishment of 20 months in prison to Taylor S. Saleme.
Court records show Saleme violated probation by committing another offense while on probation, not paying probation fees, not paying installments on a $500 fine, not paying court costs, not paying a fee for a background investigation, not reimbursing the crime victims compensation fund, not reporting to the Orange County community supervision, and not participating in 140 hours of community service.
Saleme was fired from the Orange Police Department in June 2013 after the father of another Orange officer set up a video camera at his house to see who had been taking pills from his prescription medication bottle. The video showed Saleme taking pills when he visited the man.
Besides being fired Saleme was charged with theft, for which he received probation. He also later received a probated sentence after pleading guilty to driving under the influence with a child in the vehicle. Since then, he was arrested for trespassing in Vidor.
