Orange police are investigating the death of a 5-year-old girl at a house in the Old Orange Historic District. Major Wade Robinson said detectives now classify it as an “unattended death.” An investigation is made into any death of a child.
Robinson said police were called about noon concerning an unresponsive child at 712 Tenth Street. The girl was deceased when first responders arrived. The Orange County District Attorney’s Office is assisting and the Jefferson County mobile crime lab was at the house.
Police said the girl is from Thibodaux, Louisiana. Precinct 1 Justice of the Peace Herschel Stagner ordered an autopsy.
