Monday afternoon firefighters from multiple agencies were called to a grassy field just off Hwy. 62 between Tulane and I-10.
The wind from the south and low humidity moved the fire quickly but firefighters were able to get it contained after a couple of hours. Heavy smoke and fire trucks did affect some traffic in the area.
No injuries were reported, no buildings burned, and a cause is not known.
