Saturday the West Orange Fire Dept. was at WalMart as part of Fire Safety Week. The brought their trucks for the kids to see as well as valuable information about the importance of having smoke detectors and fire extinguishers in your home or business.
Fire Chief David Roberts also talked to people who may be interested in becoming a volunteer firefighter. Roberts said it does require training and many times they can provide assistance to getting a future firefighter trained and important qualifications like CPR Training. He also expressed that there are volunteer positions for those that may not want to fight fires but they want to be involved. That would include providing aid to the firefighters and clean up. If you’re interested you can stop by your local volunteer fire department for more information.
