As of Tuesday afternoon the Gist area fire near FM 2802/Texla Road is now 75% contained and the official acreage count is 417 acres. There are now fire lanes completely surrounding the perimeter and fire crews continue to improve and widen the lanes and suppress hotspots. The heavy smoke could linger in the area a few days. If you do not live in the area, please continue to avoid it due to the heavy fire vehicle traffic.
Orange County remains under a burn ban and you will be assessed a $500.00 fine for burning.
