The opportunity to file to be on the ballot for municipal and school board elections started last Wednesday. Candidates have filed for two school boards and two city councils.
Incumbents Judy Cole and Patty Collins have filed for another term on the Bridge City School Board. In the Little Cypress-Mauriceville School Board race incumbent Tammy Rountree has filed for another term in Place 4.
Bridge City has seen candidates file for all three places in the municipal election. Aaron Roccaforte has filed for Place 1. Incumbents Tammi Fisette and Terri Gauthier have filed for another term in Place 3 and Place 5 respectively.
The City of Orange has the mayor’s position and one council member’s position to be decided. Incumbent Larry Spears, Jr. has filed to be elected to another three years as the mayor.
The City of Pinehurst will elect the mayor and four other positions on the City Council. West Orange will elect a new mayor for the first time in 25 years as Mayor Roy McDonald has indicated he is not running again. There are also two Aldermen positions on the ballot for May 1 when the elections will be held.
