The new community group sponsoring the Field of Plenty gardens is postponing the ‘raise the bed’ event on Saturday, April 30 because of mud at the site.
However, organizer Sandra Hoke said if rain is not falling Saturday morning at 8, volunteers will be there working on the grounds.
Field of Plenty is on about two acres on Wickard Drive behind Orange Christian Services on Park Avenue. The plan for Saturday was to establish 10 raised beds out of cinder blocks for planting.
Hoke said the fresh produce from the garden will be given to the food insecure through Orange Christian Services and local soup kitchens.
