First Financial Bank is preparing for a July ground-breaking to begin construction on a new regional office. The front of the building will face the intersection of 16th Street and Park Avenue on the southeast side.
Stephen Lee of Orange, president and CEO of First Financial Southeast said the bank recently closed the land purchase of the vacant lots from the Stark Foundation. The site will be yards from the current bank building at 812 16th Street.
The Orange City Council bought the 812 16th Street building last year and will turn it into city hall after the bank moves to its new headquarters.
Lee said construction on the new building should start in July and take a year to 15 months for completion. At this time, a monetary value has not been set on the construction project.
The bank’s website says the Texas-based financial group’s Southeast region includes banks in Orange, Vidor, Mauriceville, Newton, Mid-County and Beaumont.
