A motorcycle crash Sunday night in Newton County killed a man from Orange. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash about 7:15 PM on FM 1416 about a mile south of the community of Bon Weir.
A 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound on FM 1416. The driver of the motorcycle entered a curve in the road he lost control of the vehicle traveling off the roadway and struck a pipe fence before coming to rest.
The driver of the motorcycle Emery Roy Collins, age 54, of Orange was pronounced deceased at the crash scene by Justice of the Peace Connie Smith. Troopers with the DPS are continuing their investigation to determine the exact factors that contributed to this fatal crash.
A Vidor man was injured Friday in Newton County when his motorcycle crashed on State Highway 87. The Texas Department of Public Safety responded to the crash at 11:45 AM on Friday approximately three miles south of Rural Route 255 on Highway 87.
Troopers indicate Stephen Miller, age 24, of Vidor was traveling on his motorcycle southbound on highway 87 when he entered a curve at an unsafe speed and lost control of his motorcycle. Miller fell off the motorcycle and struck a roadway sign. A medical helicopter transported Miller to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital with serious injuries. He was wearing his helmet.
