Orange police are warning businesses to watch for counterfeit $100 bills. Friday evening, one showed up at the Dollar General, 5725 North 16th Street.
Detective Captain Robert Enmon said most of the time when a counterfeit bill shows up, more are reported in the area.
He said businesses should use the special markers on the bills, or look closely at them and feel them. “They (the counterfeits) just don’t look right,” he said.
Usually, store customers who have the counterfeits have received them from another business, he said, so consumers should also check their bills closely.
