Around 6:30pm on Monday an explosion was seen and heard by many in Jefferson County at the Valero Plant in Port Arthur.
Employees report the explosion coming from a “heater unit.”
Amazingly no injuries were reported as crews continued to battle the flames and flare ups into the night.
Highway 82 and 87 were closed near the facility. Port Arthur residents on the west side were asked to shelter in place. School is cancelled on Tuesday at Sabine Pass ISD.
