Ester Lucille Crain Jeans, age 78, of Orange, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025. She was born on September 11, 1946, in Orange, Texas, to Ira and Lucille Crain, who preceded her in death. Ester was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, known for her kindness, strong faith, and love for her community.
For many years, Ester served as a beloved substitute teacher at Orangefield Independent School District, where she touched the lives of countless students with her patience and care. She was passionate about helping others and was a familiar and cherished face in the classroom.
Outside of her work, Ester’s greatest joys came from her hobbies and family. She loved cooking, often delighting her loved ones with delicious meals, and found comfort and fulfillment in her church community. Ester was an avid crossword puzzle enthusiast, enjoying the challenge of finding the right word as much as the satisfaction of completing each puzzle.
Ester was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Ron Jeans, who passed away earlier, as well as her parents Ira and Lucille Crain, and her brothers Roe, Carl, and Jim Crain, and her sister Barbara Jarrell. She is survived by her two children, Allison Maglothin and her husband Joe, and Bryan Jeans and his wife Michelle. Ester also leaves behind five beloved grandchildren, who brought her immeasurable joy. She is also survived by her sisters Kay Fontenot and Clara Loftin, and her brothers Joe and Dale Crain.
Ester’s presence will be missed dearly by all who knew her. Her love, wisdom, and grace will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. A private family memorial will be held to honor her life.
A service will be held at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Orange, Texas, at 12:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 6th. Visitation will be held in the parish hall at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 6th.
