BC’s Cameron Yadon beats the tag for a run against Carthage
–
Playing seven games in seven days may have caught up with the Bridge City Cardinals Tuesday.
BC played a doubleheader in Jasper against the Bulldogs and the Carthage Bulldogs, losing the first game against the host team 11-5 and the second game 7-6. Errors hurt the Cards with three in the first game and three in the second game that lead to runs or extended the inning.
Before Tuesday BC (11-5-1) had not lost a game in their last seven appearances.
Against Jasper, Jackson Tims hit a 2-run homer while Logan Hamm had an RBI triple. Cameron Yadon was 2-2 with a walk. On the bump, Peyton Havard, Tims, Nolan Moore and Slade Foreman saw action, giving up six earned runs on nine hits.
In the second game, Carthage jumped on starter Gavin Green for two runs on three hits and a walk in the first inning. But BC battled back to take a 5-2 lead after three behind the pitching of Sam Carpenter, timely hitting, and a combined 10 walks by Bulldog pitchers.
But Carthage would score four in the sixth to take the lead for good, taking advantage of those BC miscues.
Offensively, the Cards got RBI’s from Dubois, Tims and Green.
The Road Warriors come home on Friday to host Jasper at 1:30 before opening district Mar. 20 at Silsbee.
