Elsie C. Duke, 85, of Vidor, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 24, 2025.
A native of Massachusetts, Elsie’s journey led her to Texas, where she built a life filled with love, devotion, and unwavering care for her family. She married the love of her life, Larry Duke Sr., and together they created a home where family always came first. Elsie found her greatest joy in taking care of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren—her “babies,” as she lovingly called them. Nothing meant more to her than being surrounded by the ones she cherished most.
She is survived by her four children: Larry Duke Jr. and spouse Debra, Dennis Duke, Deborah Lear, and Dawn Duke-Zapata and spouse Rigoberto. She was a proud grandmother to fifteen grandchildren: Kevin, Joy Lynn, Michael, Angela, Kira, Patrick, Alá and spouse Vicquieron, Katie and spouse Jeremy, Louie, Christophor, Gabriella, Lucretia and spouse Kristen, Desiree, and Eli. Her love extended to nineteen great-grandchildren, each of whom she adored.
Elsie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Larry Duke Sr.
Her warmth, kindness, and boundless love for her family will be deeply missed, but the legacy she leaves behind will continue in the lives of those she nurtured and loved so dearly.
