Elaine Richardson Peveto, age 90, of Orange, Texas, passed on June 29, 2024. Family and friends will gather from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Little Cypress Baptist Church. Services to honor Elaine’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 5, 2024, at Little Cypress Baptist Church; Reverend David Turner, officiating. Interment will follow at Wilkinson Cemetery. Arrangements were made under the care of Dorman Funeral Home.
Elaine was born on July 23, 1933, in Silsbee, Texas, to John H. and Gertrude Freasier Richardson. She began her schooling in Silsbee Elementary in 1939 and graduated from Silsbee High School in 1950. On April 11, 1953, she married Jerald Winston Peveto of Orange, Texas. This past April 11, they celebrated their 65th anniversary. After being a housewife for sixteen years and having three sons, she began her college education at Lamar University, which was opening a branch of the college in Orange in August of 1969. In the fall of 1973 she graduated with a degree in Elementary Education. The following the January she began teaching in Little Cypress Mauriceville school district on the Mauriceville campus. She began teaching first grade class and she remained there until she retired in 1994. Her reason after retiring after just twenty years, was to serve her church home at Little Cypress Baptist Church where she had been a member since 1953. Until her death she served in numerous positions including Vacation Bible School principal, director of several Sunday School departments and was a member of the choir.
Elaine is preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and one brother.
Elaine is survived by three sons; Jerald Wayne Peveto and wife Glenda of Gist, Texas, Michael Lane Peveto and wife Trudy of Montgomery, Texas, and Terryl Lynn Peveto of Mt. Judea, Arkansas; grandchildren, Misty Nicole Peveto and partner Daniel Splinter, Megan Nicole Peveto Sherrell and husband Jason, Amy Michelle Peveto and husband Jonathon Brehm, Amanda Marie Peveto and fiancée Darin Weldon, Blake Allen Peveto and wife Megan, Dawn Marie Bush and husband Cliff; great grandchildren, Harper Grace Sherrell, Olicia Grace Sherrell, Makenzie Paiyge Holland, Kyler Lathon Gardovsky, Oz Ryder Wagner, Piper Lynn Wagner and Nash Allen Peveto.
