On Christmas Day, Dec. 25th, 2021 our sweet Mom, Edith (Dee) Hanks met Jesus with open arms.
Mom, 98, was born October 7, 1923, Orange Texas, third daughter of Ludger J. and Lena Moore Vincent.
Our Mom, our Grandma Dee, our sister , our Aunt Dee and the sweetest/most caring person is now a shining star watching over each of us.
Dee believed the ability to work was a gift, a gift she passed on to her children. She raised 8 children, while running a grocery store known to many as Dee’s grocery in Orange Texas for 30+years. In 1969 she and Daddy moved to Starks Louisiana.
Dee had many talents, that included cooking, sewing, crocheting, gardening and wood working. But her passion was loving and doing for her children and grandchildren. Hosting holiday parties was her favorite thing to do. Making sure each one felt special.
Welcoming her to her heavenly home are her parents, sisters, Louise, Julie, Bernice and brother L. J. Vincent Jr. Her husband of 45 years Josh M. Hanks, daughter Rhonda Hanks Broomes. Son in law,Mike Verdine,daughter in law Laverne Hanks.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children Jerry (Carolyn), Ronny (Sherry), Ludgie (Judy), Alexine Clark, Tommie Wilson (Tommy), Carolyn Verdine and Kay Oldham (Bobby); 25 grandchildren, Lisa, Ricky, Bobby, Rachel, Rodney, Tom, Joe, Jean Ann, Matt, Ronna, Tami, Bryan, Carrie, David, Erica, Brooke, Kevin, Lacey, Kim, Angie, Tara, Mark, Kenneth, Roger and Terry; and over 100 great and great great grandchildren; sister, Libby Negrotto; and brother, Travis Vincent.
Services to celebrate her beautiful life will be Monday January 3rd at 11:00 a.m. with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. at Claybar Funeral home in Orange, TX with Mr. T. Ray Vincent and Father Sinclair Oubre officiating.
Serving as pallbearers will be Ricky Hanks, Tom Wilson, Joe Wilson, Matt Wilson, Rodney Clark, Mark Drake, Bryan Verdine, David Oldham and Kevin Hanks.
