The weather was ideal on Thursday for the first day of Eco-Fest 2018 at the Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center. Attendance was very good for the annual event at the gardens. Senior citizen groups and school kids were included in the visitors.
Thursday’s theme was Blooms. The gardens’ Director of Horticulture Jennifer Buckner gave a demonstration of planting a Canby Oak or Mexican Red Oak tree. There were also story time for kids and crafts available for the children to make their own flowers.
Eco-Fest 2018 continues on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s theme is Bugs and features a release of lady bugs in the gardens. The always popular butterfly release will be Saturday afternoon at 3:30 PM.
The Shangri La Botanical Gardens and Nature Center will be open this Friday and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Other special activities will be available to visitors to the gardens between 10:30 AM and 3:30 PM both days.
