
First United Methodist Church, 502 Sixth Street in downtown Orange, will have a variety of activities and worship opportunities during Holy Week.
On Palm Sunday, March 25, the church will have the Praise Service in the Family Life Center at 9 a.m. and the Traditional Service in the Sanctuary at 11 a.m.
The church will celebrate The Great Surprise with family activities beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Family LIfe Center. The activies will include science, Bible stories, crafts and snacks.
Then at 4 p.m. the youth will have the Egg Drop. People will secure a raw egg in a container and the youth will drop the eggs from the second floor of the Family Life Center. An Easter egg hunt for ages toddler through fifth grade will follow at 4:30 p.m.
The Maundy Thursday Communion Service will be Thursday, March 29, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Chapel.
Easter Sunday activities will begin at 9 a.m. with the Praise Service in the Slade Memorial Chapel in the 600 block of Elm Avenue on the church campus. The Traditional Service at 11 a.m. will be in the Sanctuary.
On April 8, the week after Easter, the church will have activities at Claiborne West Park off Interstate 10. The church has reserved the Halliburton Pavilion all day. A covered dish luncheon will be held at the pavilion after church services and games will be played in the afternoon.
