Early Voting for the May 4 Municipal Election starts Monday, April 22 and voters can vote at any of the locations below.
Contested races include for Mayor in Bridge City where incumbent David Rutledge is being challenged by Carl Harbert. There are two being challenged on the OC Drainage District Board. Larry Ancelot is being challenged in Precinct 2 by Richard Capaldi and in Precinct 3 Seth Mize is running against incumbent James Scales.
Vidor School Board has a contested race for Position 2. Paul Davis, Matthew Dewitt and Carrie Vincent are asking for your vote.
OCESD 1 has Proposition A which reads LOCAL SALES AND USE TAX, “THE ADOPTION OF A LOCAL SALES
AND USE TAX IN ORANGE COUNTY EMERGENCY SERVICES DISTRICT NO. 1 AT A RATE NOT TO EXCEED ONE AND ONE-HALF PERCENT (1.5%) IN ANY LOCATION IN THE DISTRICT.”
And residents in the West Orange Cove School District are voting yes or no on a $72 million bond. PROPOSITION A – THE ISSUANCE OF $72,000,000 BONDS FOR THE CONSTRUCTION, ACQUISITION, RENOVATION, EXPANSION, IMPROVEMENT AND EQUIPMENT OF SCHOOL BUILDINGS IN THE DISTRICT
INCLUDING (I) CONSTRUCTION OF A NEW 40 NORTH EARLY LEARNING CENTER AND (II) DISTRICT-WIDE SECURITY AND SITE 41 IMPROVEMENTS AND THE PURCHASE OF NEW SCHOOL BUSES; AND THE LEVYING 42 OF AT AX TO PAY THE PRINCIPAL OF AND INTEREST ON THE BONDS AND THE COSTS OF ANY RELATED CREDIT 43 AGREEMENTS. THIS IS A PROPERTY TAX INCREASE.
And in Newton County, Deweyville is voting Yes/No on a school bond. It reads: THE ISSUANCE OF $47,665,000 SCHOOL BUILDING BONDS FOR THE DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, ACQUISITION, AND EQUIPMENT OF SCHOOL BUILDINGS IN THE DISTRICT, AND LEVYING AND IMPOSITION OF TAXES SUFFICIENTTO PAY THE PRINCIPAL OF AND INTEREST ON THE BONDS AND THE COSTS OF ANY CREDIT AGREEMENTS. THIS IS A PROPERTY INCREASE.
