The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Troopers are investigating a crash on Interstate Highway 10, near the 866-mile marker, that occurred Saturday, February 17, 2024.
The preliminary crash investigation indicates that at approximately 4:13 a.m., a Freightliner truck tractor semi-trailer was traveling west. It is reported that the driver lost control and traveled off the road to the left where he struck the concrete barrier, causing both the truck tractor and semi-trailer to overturn and partially enter the eastbound lane. The semi-trailer was then struck by a Dodge Ram pickup that was traveling west.
The driver of the Freightliner, a 51 year old man from Georgia, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, identified as 69-year-old Richard Duhon of Orange, was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Traffic was tied up for several hours on both sides of the interstate while the scene was cleaned up.
