
Dorothy Scott Fisher Morris, 92, of Kirbyville, Texas, passed away on March 22, 2025, in Kirbyville.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025, at McDonald Baptist Church in Orange. Officiating will be Tommy Anthony. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 27, 2025, at McDonald Baptist Church in Orange.
Born in Shelby County, Texas, on March 16, 1933, she was the daughter of DeLeon Scott and Virginia Forbis Scott. Dorothy was a dedicated member of the McDonald Baptist Church, where she found community and fellowship throughout her life. Professionally, Dorothy made significant contributions during her years in accounting, beginning working in the payroll department for Levingston Shipbuilding and then later for Cloeren Co., showcasing her diligence and expertise in her field. In her leisure time, Dorothy enjoyed engaging in various hobbies that brought her joy and satisfaction. A talented bridge player, she reveled in the strategy and camaraderie that the game offered. She also had a passion for crossword puzzles, often seen with a pen in hand, solving clues that challenged her mind. She loved her many weekends spent at “the Camp” on Toledo Bend Lake playing Forty-Two. Her love for travel allowed her to explore new places and create lasting memories, while her enjoyment of classic movies provided her with a delightful escape into stories and characters from bygone eras. Dorothy was affectionately called “DeDe” by her grandchildren, who brought her immense joy. Her greatest pleasure in life was her family. Dorothy’s legacy is one of kindness and enthusiasm for life. She will be remembered for her lively spirit, her warmth towards family and friends, and her ability to bring people together through her many passions. Her family and friends will forever hold her close in their hearts, cherishing the moments shared and the lessons learned from a truly remarkable woman.
She is preceded in death by her parents, DeLeon and Virginia Scott; her first husband, Billy Joe “Bill” Fisher; her second husband, John David “Dave” Morris, Jr.; and her sister, Billie Van Duzer.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn Fisher and wife, Beth, and Steve Fisher and wife, Judy; her daughter, Beverly Fisher Haggard and husband, James; her grandchildren, Josh Fisher and wife, Lisa, Brandon Fisher and wife, Kristin, Holly Blount and husband, Justin, Jessica Granger and husband, Micah, Scott Haggard and wife, Erica, and Kurt Haggard and wife, Taylor; 15 great-grandchildren; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Avalon Place and Gentiva Hospice and for the wonderful care and love they provided to our Mom.
Serving as pallbearers will be Josh Fisher, Brandon Fisher, Scott Haggard, Kurt Haggard, Glenn Fisher, and Steve Fisher. Honorary pallbearers are Chase Fisher, Owen Blount, Zach Fisher, Brodie Fisher, Holly Blount, and Jessica Granger.
