
Dorothy Jean Henry, of Orange, passed away at Harbor Hospital of Southeast Texas on February 9, 2016 at the age of 82.
Dorothy was born on August 31, 1933 to parents Irene (Kolb) and Otis Brett in Hull-Daisetta, Texas. She moved to Orange, Texas when she was a child and lived here ever since. After all of her children were grown and her husband passed, she worked at the Little Cypress Junior High Cafeteria, and after that worked as a door greeter at Walmart. She enjoyed being a seamstress in her free time and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt; she enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and will be dearly missed.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Irene and Otis Brett; husband, Johnny W. Henry; and numerous brothers and sisters.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter Sandy Gross, and husband Julian, of Orange, TX; sister Lois Guidry of Houston, TX; brother Charles Brett, of Cut and Shoot, TX; grandchildren Robert “Tank” Gross and wife Jennifer of Orange, TX, Bryan Gross and wife Gina of Orangefield, TX; Great Grandchildren Marissa Rodriguez and her fiancé Zach Peevey, Ryan Camacho, Kylie Gross, Alli Gross; and Great Great Grandchild Rylie Peevey.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 at 11 am at the Dorman Funeral Home chapel, with a gathering of family and friends on Friday, February 12 from 5pm to 9pm at the funeral home. Officiating will be Justin McCorkle and Don Swanson. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Dorman Funeral Home.
