
Dorothy Booth Henley, 91, of Beaumont, Texas—formerly of Norphlet, Arkansas—passed away on December 22, 2025, at her home. Dorothy was born on December 16, 1934, to Ernest L. and Sarah Taylor Booth in Emerson, Arkansas.
Dorothy was a devoted mother, educator, and active member of every community she called home. She began her career at Norphlet Elementary School, first as a teacher and later as a counselor, where she positively influenced generations of students with her compassion and dedication. After moving to Texas, she continued her counseling work at Lumberton Middle School, offering guidance and encouragement to countless young people.
Her passion for education extended beyond the classroom. Dorothy helped shape future teachers through her positions at Southern Arkansas University, University of Arkansas and LeTourneau University, sharing her knowledge, experience, and love for the profession.
Following her retirement from education, Dorothy remained deeply engaged in church, community and cultural life. She held positions at the Spindletop Gladys City Boomtown Museum in Beaumont—where she shared local history with visitors from around the world—and at the Ben Rogers Visitor Center, where her warmth and knowledge welcomed travelers to Southeast Texas.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Frank David Henley; her parents; and a granddaughter, Sarah Henley.
Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Marcus Henley and wife Sohnnie of White Sulphur Springs, NY; two daughters, Dianna Frazier and husband Jim of Vidor, Texas, and Leah Lester of Spring, Texas; her sister, Linda Moon (Don); her brother, Darrel Booth (Lark); three granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service and interment will be held in Norphlet, Arkansas.
