KOGT has partnered with First Financial Bank to bring you the Athlete of the Week, celebrating an area athlete. It may be because of their play, their leadership, their grades, or something they did off the playing field.
Our first recipient is Bridge City senior Taryn Doiron. Doiron is a leader on the the Lady Cardinal volleyball team, a team that is off to another great start and currently 1-0 in district.
Head Coach Savanah DeLuna said, “Taryn has been such an asset to the BC volleyball program the past 4 years. Last year she ran a 5-1 and set for us all around. This year she has really proved to be an all around player for us. She’s setting, swinging and important to our serve receive game. She’s a senior captain with multiple accolades and looking to play at the next level. She’s a huge part of our program and we are lucky to have her!”
We also asked Doiron to answer a few questions.
How has volleyball impacted your life?
“Volleyball has provided me with many opportunities and life lessons. I have made valuable friendships with not only teammates but also coaches.”
How do you respond when you’re called the leader of the team?
“I respond in a positive and inclusive way, both on and off the court. I plan to use my leadership skills in my future.”
Do you want to play college ball and if so where?
“I’m currently looking into playing at the next level but keeping my options open.”
If volleyball is your favorite sport, what is your second favorite?
“My next favorite sport is baseball because I grew up watching my brother play.”
