The Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a tip of a vehicle possibly in the Neches River off of Four Oaks Rd. in Vidor. A Tracker was pulled out of the river last week.
Captain Joey Jacobs said by using sonar and the Port Arthur Dive Team they found several vehicles in the water. He said a couple of them had been there so long that they were almost completely filled with silt. He said they even tried to “float them” but they were just too deep in the mud.
However they were able to retrieve a Dodge Ram pickup near a boat ramp. Through records they were able to learn that the truck was reportedly lost in the water a year ago when someone launching a boat backed up too far and flooded the vehicle.
