The Pinehurst City Council will consider condemning two properties when it meets again. The properties were first shown in a PowerPoint presentation to the council at its last meeting in February.
Pinehurst Code Enforcement Officer Harry Vine showed ten properties to the City Council on the PowerPoint show done by assistant Justin Trahan at the February meeting. Vine said it is time to clean house.
The presentation was done in an order of priority for the city to address as far as possible condemnation and then demolition. A residence at 3705 Lark Street topped the list. It was seriously damaged by a fire a few months ago.
The next two properties are owned by the same individual. The first is located at 3428 Heron Street and the second is at 3706 Mockingbird Street. Both of these properties will be discussed during separate public hearings for possible condemnation during the meeting on Tuesday.
Vine indicated he has worked with the all owners of the properties that he can make contact. “Blight begets blight. The saying is crime and grime, they go together, you’ve got grime you’re going to have crime, one breeds the other. So, the more we get things cleaned up the better, safer, cleaner city we’re going to have,” Vine exclaimed.
The meeting of the Pinehurst City Council will be Tuesday at 6:00 PM. The City Council meets in the Pinehurst City Hall located at 2497 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
