
David Mitchell (Dave) Hastings
Born on January 18, 1956, in Orange, Texas, passed away on June 6, 2025, in Beaumont, Texas, after a brief illness.
Dave was a 1974 graduate of West Orange High School. He was employed at Dupont Sabine River Works/ Invista for 35 years as a process operator. During his employment his expertise in writing procedure manuals took him to England, Canada, and two years living in Singapore. When returning, he continued his work life at Dupont in Orange until he retired in 2013. Prior to working at Dupont, he was the owner of Catherine Flowers and Gifts, which he took over from his grandmother Catherine Theirheimer. He was an avid reader, loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, and watching college football. He enjoyed attending his grandsons sporting events and never missed a chance to visit the concession stand for a Frito Pie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Bill and Lois Hastings; grandparents, Ida Lee and William Hastings and Aloys and Catherine Thierheimer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jane Hastings; son, David Hastings, Jr.; siblings, Mark Hastings, Bill Hastings, and Val Martinez and their spouses; bonus children, Stephen Maddox, Rob Maddox, and Leslie Maddox and their spouses and eight grandchildren; mother-in-law, Marilyn Skeeler; along with numerous nieces, nephews, family members and his beloved dog Charli.
Honoring Dave’s wishes there will be no formal services.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
