Darrell Wayne Woodard, 80, of Vinton, Louisiana, passed away on January 11, 2024, at Holly Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Sulphur, Louisiana.
A remembrance will be held at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, January 14, 2024, at Deweyville Methodist Church.
Born in Orange, Texas, on June 1, 1943, he was the son of James Edwin Woodard and Ruby Lovis (Burns) Woodard. Darrell began his career at DuPoint where he worked diligently for over 30 years. His dedication and hard work earned him the respect of his colleagues and he retired in 2016, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the company. Outside of work, Darrell had a passion for woodworking creating beautiful pieces with his own hands. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who always put their needs first. Darrell presence brought comfort and happiness to those around him. He created countless memories that will be cherished forever. Darrell’s simple and kind nature touched the lives of many. He will be remembered for his unwavering loyalty, genuine smile, and warm heart.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruby Woodard; brother, R.L. Woodard; and stepson, Donny Johnson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Betty Woodard; daughter, Kristine Benoit and husband, Danny; stepchildren, Dell Landry, Lee Maccabee, Scott Johnson, and Morgan Johnson; brothers, J.E. Woodard, Roy Woodard, Herbert Woodard, and Johnny Woodard; 18 grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
