The Cypresswood Village subdivision has grown so much ITEX is ready to develop the second phase. The Orange City Council on Tuesday will have a special called meeting to hold a public hearing on the plat.
The subdivision is on Highway 87 South near FM 105. Two apartment complexes by ITEX are nearby. One complex is for low-to-moderate-income families and the other is full market apartment.
The area is in the Bridge City school district. Earlier in the month, a council member asked about why the subdivision would be in that school district. City Manager Shawn Oubre, who was at his last council meeting before he left for another job, said the lines for school districts had been set many years ago and the city had nothing to do with them.
After the public hearing, the council will vote on a resolution to accept the plat.
In addition, the council will discuss and possible vote on a memorandum of understanding between the city, the Orange County Drainage District, and ITEX on drainage improvements for Cypresswood Village.
Other business at the meeting will be changes in the city ordinances governing fences in residential and commercial zones.
The meeting will be at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the council chamber next to the Orange Public Library.
