Cynthia “Cindy” Ann Large, age 74 of Orange, Texas, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at her home. Family and friends will gather for a memorial visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Dorman Funeral Home.
Cindy was born on April 11, 1947 in San Angelo, Texas to parents, Betty Ruth Henderson Ballard and George Melvin Ballard. She was married to her husband, Harold on April 24, 1965 and the couple shared almost 57 years together. Cindy was a very loving and generous individual. She devoted her life caring for family, especially the grandchildren. Cindy liked spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and working in the garden. She always looked forward to the trips to the deer lease. Cindy was not the “bon-bon” eating housewife, she wore many hats depending on the situation/crisis. She was a plumber, carpenter/painter, auto mechanic, gardener, landscaper, doctor, veterinarian and more. Cindy ran the household like a “Boss” but best of all enjoyed being “Maw-Maw”. She upheld “Maw-Maw” status to the fullest, never missing birthdays, attending school functions, and so much more. Cindy loved her grandchildren and they loved her “Very” much. Cindy will be greatly missed by her family and all those she impacted with her resilience and love.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Vanessa Shannon and her parents George and Betty Ballard and brother Kim Ballard.
Those left to cherish her memory are husband Harold “Speedy” Large of Orange, TX, daughters, Gennie Large and Terry Block of Mauriceville, TX and Pam Constance of Sulphur, LA, son-in-law Eddie Shannon of Buna, TX, brother Kye Ballard of San Angelo, TX, sister Georgia Carr of San Angelo, TX and three grandchildren; Tyler Block, Garrett Shannon and Cole Constance and many wonderful friends.
