Dean Crooks received his oath of office as the interim County Judge of Orange County Wednesday in the Commissioners Courtroom. Crooks was appointed Tuesday by the Commissioners Court to serve as the replacement County Judge for Brint Carlton who resigned his office Sunday, April 22. Former County Judge and current mayor of Pinehurst Pete Runnels performed the swearing in ceremony. Runnels served as an advisor to Crooks during the Republican Primary race that saw Crooks defeat Carlton for the party’s nomination in the November general election. The Commissioners Court will consider approving the bond for Crooks at its meeting next Tuesday. Crooks will officially take office the next day. Crooks said he will take a common sense approach to working as the new County Judge. “We’re a team to do this, it takes everybody in this county. We’ve got a lot of work to do, but I’ve seen what the people of this county can do, what the employees of this county can do particular during Harvey. I’m not worried about them working together, I just hope I can keep up with them,” Crooks concluded.

Welcome and God bless. Our little community has a lot of potential. I see this as a good sign. If Pete Runnels approves of him I know he’ll do a great job.
