The Mauriceville Heritage Association is hosting the Annual Crawfish Bash this weekend at the fairgrounds located at 7441 Cohenour Road.
Thirty teams will be competing in the Crawfish contest and all-you-can-eat tickets are being presold on the MHA website along with Mega Ride passes that allow to ride the carnival rides as many times as you wish.
There will be live music and the times are listed below along with other events during the event. The MHA also awarded several checks to different organizations as they continue to give back to the community. Pictures and descriptions are listed below.
Those receiving funds included:
Chad Kibedeaux from Mauriceville Assembly of God. The church has been distribution building supplies and appliances to those in need in our community. It is our hope that these funds awarded tonight will serve to asst Chad in his effort to help as many as possible. I’d like to give Chad an opportunity to explain how his program works:
MYFA: The MYFA lost most of their equipment as well as had significant damage to the structures on their field. Tonight we are presenting the MYFA with funds to assist in purchasing new concession stand equipment.
The OCYB sustained significant damage to the structures on their field as well. Tonight we are presenting the OCYB with funds to assist in purchasing new concession stand equipment.
Both MYFA and OCYB provide an athletic outlet for boys and girls in our community. Through these organizations, youth learn to work cooperatively and lean skills that transcend sports. The kids served by these organizations tend to be leaders in our schools and go on to perform well in college and beyond.
The OCLA sustained damage to their facility as well. Tonight we are presenting the OCLA with funds to assist in purchasing new equipment for their building and barn. The ocla helps bridge the gap between an very technologically centered world and traditional farming skills. Together with the Orange County Extension agents and 4-H, these groups teach our children not only animal husbandry skills, but a variety of life skills through education and hands on practice. Kids involved in these types of programs often become hard working adults serving as the back bone of communities.
Mauriceville Girl Scout troop: To assist in their goals. Girl scouts is a vital organization for young girls giving them the needed skills to survive in an ever changing word. Girl scouts grow up to be resilient forward focused young ladies. All communities need more females with a can do attitude.
