Contractors began an improvement project this week at Blue Bird Fish Camp. And while the parking lot and boat ramp will be closed, the restaurant remains open.
In May of last year the Sabine River Authority and Orange County came to an agreement on improvements to park and ramp, which is owned by the county.
“The SRA is pretty much running the show,” said Commissioner Johnny Trahan. “They’re going to add up to a 10″ base to the parking lot. It will also be bigger than before and striped to be suited more to trucks with trailers.”
The boardwalk will also be extended and the ramp will officially be two lanes. They’re also planning a kayak/canoe launch. We’re not sure it will look just like the one below but it’s an example of what one looks like.
If you want to enjoy the restaurant, there is a parking lot to the right before you get to the building.
