For the third time the Commissioners Court Wednesday took no action on approving the third party financing for an energy efficiency project to be done in the county by Way Service. County Judge Brint Carlton, County Auditor Mary Johnson, and Assistant County Attorney Doug Manning met Monday with representatives of Way to discuss financing the project. Carlton and Manning both have concerns on the agreement to borrow money to pay Way. Manning assured the Commissioners Court that he would provide each member this week a detailed list with bullet points he has of concerns for the third party financing. Attorney Manning concluded he might put the third party financing on the agenda for a fourth time at the next Court meeting.
The Commissioners Court followed the recommendation of a committee to award a flood insurance policy for county buildings to Matt Purgahn Farmers Insurance. The structures to be covered are located within special flood hazard areas. Commissioner Jody Crump did stipulate in his motion to award the policy that some of the structures may be removed from the policy upon further checking. Crump mentioned a parking area in his Precinct 4 as not deserving coverage since it is basically just a parking lot.
The Sheriff’s Office Dispatch will be getting a new computer workstation after approval Wednesday by the Commissioners. The new computer will cost $2,062 and will replace an eight-year old computer that still ran on Windows XP. It will be one of three used by the Sheriff’s dispatchers. A line item transfer will need to be approved possibly at the next meeting to make the funds available to pay for it.
Commissioners approved calling for a public hearing to consider proposed parking restrictions on Fish Farm Road. Commissioner Barry Burton said the details for the request of no parking concerns Emergency Services District #4 and Fire Station #2. Residents in the vicinity of the first station park their vehicles in the street which makes it difficult for the volunteer fire fighters to move their equipment around especially during the times of emergency calls. No date was set for the public hearing at this time.
