Noel Enderle is showered with gifts after raising money for the less fortunate.
Giving is definitely a part of the Christmas season. Tuesday the Commissioners Court recognized a young man whose generous gifts have provided happiness for many other young people. Nole Enderle is 9-years old and attends Pine Forest Elementary School. Nole used money he earned doing odd jobs and from birthdays and Christmas gifts to purchase 22 bicycles, 9 scooters, a green machine, and a skateboard to donate to the Blue Santa Program for under privileged children.
Nole and his parents Robert and Brigett Duplant attended the meeting of the Commissioners Court. Nole was thanked for his generosity to others with gifts from the Commissioners Court, Congressman Brian Babin, State Representative Dade Phelan, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, Child’s Ace Hardware, and Dominion Forms. Nole especially likes to fish and do outdoor activities which were the theme of most of the gifts to him.
The Commissioners Court unanimously voted Tuesday to lift the burn ban effective immediately for areas of the county in Emergency Services District #1. Emergency Management Coordinator Charlie Cox made the recommendation to the Commissioners. Cox indicated that other local agencies have also lifted their burn bans in the last week. Rain this week and fog that has been in the county during the last week, Cox said, has greatly helped the previous dry conditions over in the Vidor area.
Also approved was the purchase of a new nativity scene not to exceed $8,000 for the courthouse lawn. The county purchased a new nativity scene last month for $560, but upon receipt of the items they were found to be two-dimensional and only about knee height. The Commissioners agreed to attempt to purchase nativity figures which are three-dimensional and about 54 inches tall. The county maintenance department will build its own stable for the figures to be placed. The figures will be paid for out of the contingency fund.
Cox presented the Commissioners Court a large check for $1200 that his department received as a grant from Helping Heroes. The money will be used towards providing a new desktop computer that will run the four informational boards or television monitors inside the Orange County Expo and Convention Center.
