Clifford Dalton Murphy, Sr., 78, of Orange, Texas, passed away on March 3, 2017, in Orange.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Monday, March 6, 2017, at Grace Point at Eagle Heights in Orange. Officiating will be Brother Kevin Inman and Brother Don Richey. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Orange.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange.
Born in Shreveport, Louisiana, on August 26, 1938, Dalton was the son of JT and Ella “Pat” Murphy. He was a member of Grace Point at Eagle Heights as well as being on their Elder Board. He also honorably served in the 101 airborne division of the U.S. Army from 1955-1957, where he was a paratrooper and a deep sea diver. He worked for DuPont/Oxychem Petroleum for many years until retiring in 1994, he continued to work in the engineering field until his final retirement in 2013. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing and deer hunting. Dalton will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, JT Murphy and wife Nancy and Ella “Pat” and husband GL “Red” Garrett; and his infant son, Donald Wayne Murphy.
Dalton is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Dorothy “Dot” Murphy; his children, Nina Jean Bess and husband Mike, Clifford Dalton Murphy, Jr., Glenda Marie McKay and husband Jim, Clifford Key and wife Kathy, Cheri Lee Burch and husband Charlie, and Becky Nation and husband Billie, all of Orange; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and his siblings, Beth Rach, of Orange, Jerry Murphy and wife Ranette, of Shreveport, Jack Garrett and wife Toshi, of Orange, Michael Garrett and wife Sandra, of Orange. Monette Murphy and husband John, of Shreveport, and Linda Quinley, of Shreveport.
Serving as pallbearers will be Jonathan McKay, Nathan McKay, Jason Burch, Clint Burch, Michael Todd Garrett, Bryan Allen Garrett, and Gerald Rach. Honorary pallbearers are Jesse “Bo” Mayo, Johnney Davis, Tommy Gunn, Joshua Murphy, Sam Bess, and Cypress Murphy.
