Sunday afternoon a woman was driving over the Cow Bayou Bridge on Hwy. 105 and noticed a young boy walking across the bridge. After passing him she looked back and noticed he was no longer on the bridge.
She called 911 and the report of a missing child was sent out. The Sheriff’s Office, Game Warden, Constable, and even Dive Team’s from Port Arthur covered the area. For more than three hours the area was searched with divers and sonar equipment.
Word began to circulate around the Orangefield community of why authorities were at the bridge. That was followed by a call from the boys father who said they were in a boat when his son said he wanted to jump off the bridge. So he brought him to the bank, he walked up the bridge and jumped. Afterwards he got in his fathers boat and they took off. The boy was fortunately fine and the search was called off.
