Chevron Phillips Chemical Company LP’s Orange Plant was recognized today by officials from the U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) as being recertified as a STAR site under OSHA’s Voluntary Protection Program (VPP). This is the second recertification for the Orange Plant since receiving their STAR site designation in 2010.
The U.S. Department of Labor’s OSHA established the VPP in 1982 as a premier partnership with labor and management, designed to recognize worksites with exemplary safety and health programs and to identify facilities that can serve as benchmarks for others. Once a facility achieves STAR status, they are re-audited every three years to ensure that sites continue their rigorous safety and health program.
“We are proud to be recertified as a VPP Star site,” said Elliott Johnson, Plant Manager. “Our commitment to the safety and health of our employees and contractors is our number one value. This accomplishment has been a team effort by all employees and contractors working towards a common goal – excellence in workplace health and safety for all our employees,” he added.
In addition to the Orange plant’s recertification, two contractor companies, Brock and Zachry, which work on-site at the facility, also received their VPP STAR site certification.
