
Chet Ray Chappell, 57, of Groves, passed away on November 11, 2020, at his home surrounded by friends and family.
Born in Port Arthur, Tx to Harold Chappell and Alice Bigler Crawford. Chet was a professional painter and carpenter for most of his life. He also served as a drug and alcohol counselor at Unity Treatment Center. Chet enjoyed riding his Harley and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Chet took pride in his 20 years of sobriety and cherished the friendships he made through the fellowship. He also loved spending time with his children, grandkids and family.
He is proceeded by his father Harold Chappell, mother Alice Bigler Crawford, and nephew Peyton Chappell.
He is survived by his four children Christopher Chappell of Vidor Tx, Deedi Chappell, Hunter Chappell both of Orange, Tx and Chelsie Tucker of Petal, Miss. Two grandchildren Jake Emerson and Kyli Williamson both of Orange, Tx. Five siblings Melinda Chappell, Chad Chappell both of Pt Arthur, Tx, Felicia Black-Kay of Isle of Man, Dawn Cassell and Marty Crawford both of Lumberton, Tx. Chet’s longtime companion, Janise Sassine. His two special friends Dana Kennedy and Vicki Chappell.
A memorial will be announced at a later date.
Cremation will be held under the direction of Claybar Haven of Rest Crematory.
