
Cheryl Lynn Smith, 46, of Newton, TX, passed away on Wednesday, February 26th, 2025, at Mid-Jefferson Extended Care Hospital in Beaumont, TX.
A native of Beaumont, Cheryl was raised in Vidor and was a proud graduate of Vidor High School, Class of 1996. She had a love for true crime movies and could often be found immersed in the latest mystery, always eager to piece together the puzzle before the credits rolled. A devoted Elvis Presley fan, Cheryl cherished his music, finding comfort in the familiar melodies and timeless lyrics that brought her so much joy.
She is survived by her children, Kayla Morton of Vidor, TX, Kilynn Barlow of Newton, TX, Ronnie Morton of Vidor, TX, and Keyton Barlow of Newton, TX; her sister, Leisa Hester and husband O’Dell of Vidor, TX; and her brother, Jeffery Smith and wife Kryspen of Vidor, TX. She has also left behind her grandson, Miles Zelgowski, and her nephews, Trae’ Hester and Zachary Hester of Vidor, TX. Cheryl also leaves behind her best friends, Marie Lopez Cole and Mary Hudson Collier, who shared countless memories and laughter with her over the years.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Chester and Penny Smith.
Cheryl’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her. Her kindness, sense of humor, and love for the simple joys in life will never be forgotten.
