Details are still coming in but at approximately 2:45pm Monday a pursuit began over what was reported to be a routine traffic stop.
Officers attempted to stop a silver Nissan in Jefferson County but the driver would not stop and soon hit speeds of over 100mph as they traveled eastbound on I-10.
Jefferson County stopped their chase but Orange County and Rose City kept following the vehicle. DPS, Pinehurst and Orange also jumped into the chase. Spike strips were attempted but avoided.
The vehicle exited at Hwy. 62 and began to travel south. Then they took the turnaround at Tulane and came back to I-10 and continued east until they struck the median and stopped just before Adams Bayou. A black female jumped out of the car and began running towards the woods. She was apprehended a short time later and taken into custody for felony evading.
Traffic was backed up while they removed her vehicle from I-10. She had Florida license plates. Her name has not been released.
