An attempted stop for no headlights in Groves turned in to a chase that went into Orange and Newton Counties before an arrest was made.
Witnesses claimed to have counted as many as 15 police vehicles following the truck on Hwy. 87. After the driver got into Deweyville he was able to turn around and drive back into Orange. His eventual mistake came when he took Oak Lane which is a dead end road. Witnesses said something like tear gas was shot into the vehicle to get him to surrender.
Eric Chapa, 40, was taken into custody for evading and suspected for driving under the influence.
